I wish I had shot it!
I'm still kicking myself over missing a shot - and I'm hoping to reinforce what I learned by sharing it with you!
Months ago I was leaving my neighborhood when I had to stop at a red light. I looked to my left, and in the median I saw a true "Kodak moment." A young lady was standing there with a beautiful dog in the median. She was removing a "Lost" poster from the light standard - and the dog pictured on the poster was the one standing with her! Wow . . . she had found her lost dog! It was an emotional scene for me, as I knew that this was a "happy ending" to a heart-wrenching situation.
I don't remember if I did not have a camera with me (doh!) or if I just decided I had to get where I was going, but I will always regret not getting that shot. I've taken photos that required hours of work, but here was an image that snuck up on me, just waiting to be captured. And I blew it.
From that moment on I have ALWAYS had a camera in my car. And I decided then and there that even if I'm late getting somewhere, I WILL capture those special, unrepeatable moments.
